Video podcast vs. audio-only: which one should you record?

More podcasts are posting clips to Instagram and YouTube every year — but recording video isn't worth it for everyone. Here's what to weigh before deciding what to book.

When audio-only makes sense

If your main audience listens on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and you have no plan to cut clips for social, audio-only is simpler and cheaper — and still includes the booth, up to 4 microphones, and an engineer.

When adding video is worth it

If your strategy includes posting cuts to social or publishing the full episode on YouTube, camera rental (an extra $500 MXN/hour on top of the audio recording) handles that in the same session with one camera. If you want several cameras, we coordinate that with a third party at an additional cost.

It's not a permanent decision

You can start with audio-only and add video later once the podcast already has traction — you don't have to commit to this forever starting with episode one.

How it plays out in price

With audio only, a 2-hour session costs exactly the podcast recording rate. Adding single-camera video adds $500 MXN for each of those hours. You can compare both scenarios directly in the quote calculator.
